The Dangers Of McCain Health Care Plan

The Obama campaign has already released an ad using footage from last night’s VP debate and they’ve scored another direct hit.  Sarah Six Pack hasn't a clue what the McSame Healthcare Plan does, or doesn't do... that is obvious!

This morning Barack called John McCain to suggest a joint statement of principles that would help Congress resolve the immediate financial crisis.

Then John McCain went on television and said he was suspending his campaign and that Friday's presidential debate should be postponed.

Barack spoke about the crisis and took questions from reporters a few hours ago.

He also made it clear that -- with only 40 days left for the American people to decide who will be responsible for leading our economic future -- it is more important than ever that the scheduled debate takes place.

Please take a minute to watch the video of Barack's press conference and share it with your friends:

The GOP's poster boy for Alzheimers doesn't know there is a problem.  Hell, he doesn't even know what day it is...

This is Obama’s chance to take away the news cycle from McCain and expose what a fraud he is about his economic approach. McCain suddenly wants to be a reformer. Well, what was he doing all these years in Congress to reform Wall St? Nothing. Obama gives a powerful speech in Golden, CO on the #1 issue in America.

Make no mistake: my opponent is running for four more years of policies that will throw the economy further out of balance. His outrage at Wall Street would be more convincing if he wasn’t offering them more tax cuts. His call for fiscal responsibility would be believable if he wasn’t for more tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, and more of a trillion dollar war in Iraq paid for with deficit spending and borrowing from foreign creditors like China. His newfound support for regulation bears no resemblance to his scornful attitude towards oversight and enforcement. John McCain cannot be trusted to reestablish proper oversight of our financial markets for one simple reason: he has shown time and again that he does not believe in it.

They call this the ownership society but what it really means is you’re on your own. And we know the results…

And McCain’s admitting that conservatism does not work. He has to run away from his own party and his own words to try save himself from the incredible collapse on The Street. America is watching now.

McCain, May 29, 2007:

“You are interviewing the greatest free trader you will ever interview, and the greatest deregulator you will ever interview,” he said.

We all have to follow rules in our lives, register our cars, get a license to drive, but to McCain—corporations need NO regulations.  Well, if AIG goes next—good night now….(Youtube and transcript under the fold)

Despite CNN Distortion, Americans Prefer Obama Tax Plan
As ThinkProgress reported, CNN on Tuesday showed a deceptive chart which wrongly suggests that John McCain’s tax plan provides more Americans with greater savings than that offered by Barack Obama. But CNN’s upper-crust income brackets, which start at $161,000 and represent only 5% of taxpayers, conceal the inescapable truth that Barack Obama’s proposals offer working and middle class Americans steeper tax benefits at every income level up to $110,000. And according to a new Gallup poll released this week, that truth isn’t lost on American voters.

By 48% to 43%, Americans surveyed by Gallup say Obama would better handle the issue of taxes than John McCain. And with good reason. As the Washington Post detailed, an analysis by the Tax Policy Center showed:

“Obama’s plan gives the biggest cuts to those who make the least, while McCain would give the largest cuts to the very wealthy.”

Over the next few weeks, I'll be doing a lot of the things you've done to grow this movement -- reaching out day after day in neighborhoods all across the country, connecting with people who are hungry for the change we need.

This is no ordinary time, and this is no ordinary election. I plan to do everything I can to help Barack take back the White House.

I don't need to tell you that John McCain will just bring us another four years of the same. You can't change America when you supported George Bush's policies 95% of the time.

Barack has the vision and the courage to bring real change to Washington. But even he can't do this alone.

Join me by getting involved in your community -- and reach out to your friends and family to get them involved as well.
